A friend showed me an artist's work recently and described it as "complete freedom". I want more of that. My 100 days project will consist of small illustrative reflections on my day with mixed media and stitch. I plan to wrap each piece and stash it away at the end of the day; I will not look at it again until the 100 days are over, when I will combine them into one large piece. I won't have a collection of materials prepared and I won't have a colour scheme or composition in mind. I'm pretty sure this lack of control over the bigger picture will be stressful (I'm something of a control freak!), but I'm excited to see how it changes the way I work with colour, scale, line... And freedom.
