Keeping it simple, but challenging myself. I love taking photos and already have a 'photoaday' challenge so I want to do something different but related and to develop my skills. So, I am going to constrain my photo-taking to a particular focus - I will take a photo each day or create a drawing and photograph it connected to the Māori kupu o rā and I will also try to put the kupu into a sentence.

Day 11 manaaki(tia): look after, care for, show respect or kindess to


On a trail run in Whakatane I came across this in the bush. Todays word is manaaki which means to show kindness and this sort of thing seems to fit that word quite well. I found a whakatauki that also seems to encapsulate the idea of the word: He aroha whakatō he aroha ka puta mai = If kindness is sown, then kindness is what you shall receive
